Williams & Sivie Discuss Healthy Aging for Your Teeth?

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Williams & Sivie, DDS
(972) 596-9697

September is Healthy Aging Month and dental care providers are joining this month’s campaign to create awareness on keeping teeth vibrant, young and healthy in their community.  According to the American Heart Association, “32 million Americans are taking three or more medications daily,” and while these medications aid in overall health they could be a concern for your oral health.  Certain medications can reduce the amount of saliva produced, causing dryness in the mouth and creating an environment for harmful bacteria that can lead to decay or gum disease.  A significant reduction in saliva can cause symptoms like burning sensations, fungal and bacteria growth, and recession of the gum tissue. Routine dental exams and keeping your dentist up-to-date on your medical prescriptions and treatments will give you a proactive approach to healthy aging for your smile.

For more healthy aging information and tips and to join your dentist in promoting Healthy Aging, please contact, Williams & Sivie, DDS at (972) 596-9697 or visit www.WilliamsAndSivie.com.

The end of the summer ushers in the beginning of the new school year for an estimated 56 million students this fall (US Census). This month is designated as National Immunization Awareness month and healthcare providers around the country are supporting the healthy back to school initiative. Tooth decay is the most chronic disease effecting children and is a disease that is not treated with immunizations or by physicians. Proper nutrition, oral home care and dental examinations are the best defense against harmful bacteria and decay.
Join your dentist in promoting the addition of dental exams and making this back to school the healthiest ever!
